Are You High Potential?

Of course you are!

At most companies a few people get anointed as having “high potential.” Those folks get most of the resources in terms of a lift up the ladder (executive education programs, attention from and visibility to the senior leadership team, executive coaches, etc.). They’re set up to rise.

But what about you? Has your potential been unleashed? Have you managed to push yourself into more development and greater visibility? Are you, in fact, a Rizer?

Rizers know that they own their careers and they seek to understand how they can actively participate in managing that career. They contribute to the conversation about work: What do I bring to my career? What do I want from my work life? What counts as success? What is the game and how can I play with my fullest ability?

Rizers understand that work in the future is about different kinds of moves, many lateral, that add value to the organization and teach the Rizer new skills. Work in the future is about bringing your full authentic self to the workplace and growing along each step of the way.

All work is personal. If you’re like most people, you spend the majority of your waking life at work—and even when you’re not there, you’re likely thinking about what you need to do and how you might do it better, smoother, with less friction. Work  matters to us as people, not as “workers.” And while the financial reward for work is a great motivator, equally as important is your validation and recognition for a job well done, your  sense of contribution, and your growth as a person—a way to be more of who you are.

Rizers look for work they can believe in, not just work they can do well. When you have a passion for what you do, it can’t help but be infectious and inspiring to all of those around you.
